Should You Buy An XtremepowerUS Swimming Pool Pump?

I was somewhat surprised to see that XtremepowerUS has swimming pool pumps on the market. I only knew about the cheap XtremepowerUS automatic pool cleaners and were not impressed by those models. Nevertheless, should you consider buying an XtremepowerUS swimming pool pump or not?

What XtremepowerUS swimming pool pump types are available?

You can choose between single speed, multi-speed, variable speed, single voltage, dual voltage, above ground or inground pool pumps. There are a few different model numbers available, so let us have a quick look at them.

Above Ground Pool Pumps

The 3/4 horsepower XP75117 and 1.5 horsepower XP75115 are suggested for above ground swimming pools. These models are single speed, 115-Volt pumps with a port size of 1.5 inches. The 3/4 HP pump only has a max flow rate of 2400 GPH, but the 1.5 HP pump has almost double the flow at 4900 GPH.

There are three models that can be used for either above ground or inground pool systems. It is the XP75034, XP75038 and XP75035.

There are important differences between these pumps. The XP75034 is a single speed, dual voltage, 1.5 horsepower pump with 2-inch port sizes. The XP75038 is the same except for its 1.5-inch port size. Lastly, the XP75035 is a single speed, 230V, 2 horsepower pool pump with 2-inch ports.

Inground Pool Pumps

It seems like there are four different models to choose between for your inground pool system. They are the XP75021, XP75019, XP75018 and XP75039. These models are 230-Volt multi-speed pool pumps with either 1.5-inch or 2-inch port sizes.

Variable Speed Pool Pumps

XtremepowerUS also has a variable speed pool pump (model XP75021) that is suitable for inground or above ground pools that require a 1.5 horsepower motor. It has four speed settings that can be customized for the best speed and run time to save energy while still circulating the water. Its LCD screen displays the wattage, speed and 24-hour clock.

It seems like the XtremepowerUS variable speed pool pump might be easy to install, but programming the eight different speed cycles is harder to figure out. For the most part it is an affordable but decent variable speed pool pump, yet it has its quirks (read reviews on Amazon).

XtremepowerUS Pool Pump vs. Hayward Super Pump

The Super Pump is said to be an efficient and dependable workhorse when it comes to swimming pool pumps. However, it seems like the quality of the older pumps were better than it is now. Therefore, should you rather buy a cheaper XtremepowerUS swimming pool pump? Let us quickly compare a 1.5 horsepower XtremepowerUS pool pump to a 1.5 HP Hayward Super Pump.

These are both 1.5 horsepower, dual voltage, single speed pool pumps. The Hayward W3SP2610X15 has a 1.5″ port size. The Xtremepower XP75038 has 1.5″ ports, while the XP75034 has a 2″ port size.

It all comes down to quality, reliability and price. The Hayward 1.5 HP Super Pump has a higher suggested retail price (check price on Amazon). The XtremepowerUS 1.5 HP pool pump costs less than the Hayward pump.

If you are willing to take the risk, then the XtremepowerUS pump is a much cheaper option. Just keep in mind that there might be a reason why it only has a one-year warranty!

Hayward Super Pump has a gold colored motor, but so does certain XtremepowerUS pool pumps!

Conclusion

The biggest advantage of an XtremepowerUS swimming pool pump is definitely the small price tag. However, you will need both experience and research in order to install the wiring and fittings correctly. The wiring diagrams in the product manual are not clear enough to make installation easy. Furthermore, the pump does not come with fittings, so you have to buy the correct NPT fittings yourself.

To conclude, these XtremepowerUS pool pumps are an affordable alternative if you do not have the money to buy a Hayward Super Pump or a Pentair inground pool pump. They might cost almost 50% less when compared to the Hayward or Pentair pool pumps. I recommend that you do some more research before making a decision on whether to buy and install an XtremepowerUS swimming pool pump (click here for current pricing on Amazon).
